I can see that turn-based, tactical strategy games like Disgaea and Record of Agarest War are similar to Chess, but I wonder if it applies in similar ways to Chess in increasing brain power. So it's basically designed so that if anything is taken theres always a piece of yours that can go right in and take the piece that just took yours.

My teacher said that we must have strategy while playing chess and I don't know what it is. This is my second time participating in a chess competition and during my first time, I lost. I need help with a chess strategy?

Im 17 and been playing chess for a few years. Everytime i play i lose. No matter what i do i lose. I try going for a good strategy but it never works. I know how all the peices move but i need some tips on what to do. Usually on the first move I move the kings pawn 1 or 2 spaces. What is the best opening move? What strategy should i do? I really need help winning? I played against people with very low ratings and i still lose.

What is the name of this chess strategy?

About 25 years ago, I played a game of chess where the other player purposely allowed me to take his queen, bishops, knights, and rooks, so all he had left were his king and pawns. Then, he systematically destroyed me, using his pawns to take all my men. After he won, he told me the name of the strategy he used, but for the life of me I can't remember it. I'm sure it's something simple and obvious but I'm drawing a blank.
